Collections displayed
-
Inside: vintage items used on the railways, scale models of locomotives and carriages (including a fully working 1:10 scale model of a Gruppo 170 steam locomotive), rail dioramas, carriages for inspecting railway lines; railway publications.
-
Outside: locomotives (stem, electric and diesel), carriages of historical importance, arranged around a fully working turntable dating back to the 1920’s. There are some steam engines and electric locomotives, with triphase alternating current and direct current, which have made railway history in Piedmont and Italy in general.
N.B.: many pieces arrived at the Museum in a dreadful state, having been abandoned for years; a long-term restoration program is currently underway. However the vehicles can be visited by the public.
Activities
Exhibition of historical rolling stock and railway exhibitions. The Museum keeps some steam locomotives working, used for historical events.
